Weather Forecasters are Useless

So after a weekend spent wondering what damage Hurricane Bill might do to the Connecticut shoreline, it turns out that damage was in the form of 80 degrees and sunny on both days of the weekend. We had a few scares where some clouds looked menacing, but mostly a great New England summer experience.

Been working out on the Thimble Islands on Money Island re-pointing some brick on a house. The challenge with this is you're 20 feet up on a ladder which is barely level on a hard, island rocky surface, pounding on a hammer and chisel and if you hit your thumb, you have to just take it, because any movement and the ladder will come tumbling down. The hazards of being a stonemason I guess.

An example of a stone path that extends from the front door around the back to a decorative arch. Random stone size makes for an artistic look, but with clean lines. Fill in between stones keeps the look clean.

    Warm Days in Connecticut

Has been a stretch of warm days in CT, with temperatures topping 90 degrees yesterday. Combined with some brutal humidity, it makes stonework this time of year a challenge. I'd rather be down at the beach with the kids.
